Oh gosh this photographed so off...it looks so under contrasted and no amount of contrasting seems to have fixed it.
I painted this piece as a prospective cover for my art book before I decided to put it on hold. I had been having a rare fit of extreme artblock so by the time I spit this out, it felt like a miracle. This creature (he of the long snout and tree trunk head) had been floating around my brain for a few days before I drew him.
I am pretty unhappy with aspects of it. Although, in person, that is the best fantasy skull I have ever painted so I should be thankful for that, haha! I based his skull on the face of a demon I dreamed about a couple of months ago (who should be flattered, especially considering how much I hated him)
I just feel that none of my art is remotely up to par with my mind's standards right now.
Time: 15-20+ hours
Tools: Watercolour and pastel on canvas
Reference: My elk skull, Autrella and some other random animal anatomical reference of which I have forgotten.
This painting is bloodmarked and Copyright to Aria '51' Keehn ShePaintsWithBlood (me) Thank you so much for looking.
