The curious thorn buck peaks out from behind a rather sharp looking junk tree.

This is the majority of the kind of drawing I do anymore since I have almost zero time to paint or sit down to long pieces. But a piece of paper and a ballpoint pen are always at hand so every sneaky second and stolen moment are devoted to creating messes like this.

I suppose these look rather sketchy, a result of my brain letting loose with all the scribbles and pent up energy. So what we have here is pure Aria freedom in the only medium time will allow lately.

Please visit and like my facebook art page for a chance to win your own custom Yarnling!* [link]

Time: 2-3 hours?
Tools: Pallpoint pen on smooth bristol
Reference: None

This drawing is bloodmarked and copyright to Aria Keehn 2012 ShePaintsWithBlood (me) Thank you for looking!

*Yarnlings are custom, posable art dolls and examples of them can be seen here: [link]

Very striking, original work - I love all the detail you packed into the tree, like the keyhole, and the deer looks amazing. c:

It's great to see a junk tree again! I love what amalgamations of nature and culture they are, even if it is nature accepting and dealing with the waste culture produces...nicely done!

Thank you so much! I think junk trees are generally dominating my sketchbooks these days. I feel like I sketch so many of them. And as always, I love your comment and interpretation of my work <3 :blackrose:

But of course! Junk trees are such a neat idea, and it always makes me happy to see one. They always do call to mind as well how quickly human civilization would be swallowed up by nature if there was no one around to maintain it...I recently visited my uncle, and he showed me some enormous pine trees that had only been planted in the last 30 years! Even though there are so many terrible things happening to the Earth right now, it is still astonishing how quickly things can grow back in places...

I agree! The earth is amazing. I am very much attracted to scenes of nature taking over once human objects. It just brings me back to the fact that we are mere children, small in the arms of mother earth. We create buildings like blocks and throw down roads everywhere but in the end the earth can always put everything back into her great big toy box and send us to time out, haha.:blackrose:

I just love that image of we humans being sent into time-out by Earth :giggle:. It is very strange though...it seems that this is the era where we are realizing more and more how much we depend on the Earth, but how the Earth doesn't depend on us, and yet the acceleration of environmental destruction is happening like never before! It hurts animals, plants, and us, and yet it keeps going on, even though we already have found the remains of civilizations whose demise came through using up their resources, and which were in the end swallowed up by forests and deserts...

I think this looks excellent! You get a lot of texture out of that pen. I love how stylized the art is, and the concept is bizarre in a good, makes-you-think-about-it way. Awesome job!

Very beautiful! I love the delicacy of the line combined with the boldness -- the essence of awesome ink drawings! :D I especially love the tilt to the head, heehee. The designs on the tree are just so very pleasing to look at and follow the lines all over the form.

yeah his work is pretty cool. The way he draws some of his mountains is similar, with like the sectioned look. But that style translates much better to a tree I think, you make it flow very nicely .

You should totally put some more up! :D It's a nice new extension of your gallery. I've currently fallen in love with oil pastels myself and yesterday I got back into sculpting and making things out of clay. I also made a tiger thing out of white pipecleaners.
