Hello.
Again.

Dedicated to all my friends that may be dealing with the difficulty of changes and or the depression of aging.

A new world to step into. Vast and dark. Full of mysterious corpses and violent unknowns. But maybe...beautiful?
I am never sure lately. But you have to make your own. That is the one thing I am sure of.

Time: ? Not terribly long.
Tools: Chalk pastel
Reference: Maybe some water photos. The water does not really show in this photo though.

This drawing and the blood are copyright ShePaintsWithBlood, Aria (me) Thank you for still looking.:blackrose:

Oh... oh wow.
I turn 16 tomorrow, so... big change for me. This piece really speaks to me. There's a whole world out there, and who knows what's in it? But we have go go out there and explore.
So, so beautiful

I really wish I could see this piece up close, just to see the details in the creature and in the water (which just seems like it was caught in the shadow, by the way. I good light or flash should bring it out very well.)

Age is a funny thing to me. I used to never want to grow up, but that train of thought derailed only after a few months, when I was eight. Since then, I've seen so many people who've aged gracefully, and so many more who haven't aged gracefully, and even a few that haven't aged at all; it really inspired me to want to grow old, just to see what it would be like.

I realize that I didn't -really- have a choice either way, but it's fun to think that I did. I want to be that old man that sits on the corner of his porch as kids walk by, and just smiles and waves, knowing that they're going off on some adventure. I want to see the world, start a business, watch it burn, then retire after working my fingers to the bone. I want to start and raise a family.

Aging to me is no longer a worrisome thing. It's beauty. It's wisdom. It's unique.

I wish I could see the detail in this piece, so I can tell if you put wrinkles on the creature's aging face, to see if the roots gnarl and crack upon close inspection, to see how age was expressed in this piece. It's a beautiful piece, but I'll ever crave more. ^^

Thank you very much. I really enjoyed reading your ideas about age. They are neat and inspiring even if aging is something I am still very much not fond of. You are definitely intuitive about people I think.

Maybe someday we will run into each other in person and you can see my works! That would be really fun I think. :blackrose:

The foliage in this painting is so rich and well textured it looks like I can run may hands through it.

Thank you so much! I am really glad you think that since up until around the time of this painting I was pretty clueless with foliage (and still kind of am) to hear that it looks alright is most encouraging.:blackrose:

I love the surreal style and feel of this. The subtle, soft colors set against the dark background set a beautiful mood--one of wonder and nostalgia even.

This feels very...peaceful to me.
Incredibly.
Maybe a little sad, calm and very beautiful. A reflective place, one I would love to visit.

The enormous moon is the perfect touch, I think. Adds a bit of the surreal environment that I love.

Actually I'm finding the longer I look at this piece, the more I come to absolutely love it. You have the perfect amount of detail, its wonderful.
And the creature is stunningly elegant.

Cor...I really have missed your artwork. The concept and atmosphere of this piece are simply marvelous; it's beautiful in its simplicity. The only thing that seems a little off is that the horns of the dream beast seem a little too bright and pop just a little awkwardly from the rest of the work, but all in all I've rarely seen artwork that's this beautiful and melancholy.

This turned out quite lovely (as always). It quite reminds me of the forest in Princess Mononoke. But in a good way. Not a "you ganked this from Miyazaki" way haha.
I really enjoy the composition in this. It's really fun to see you get stronger in your vision of art.

Aria darling...

This is so captivating and beautiful. I feel like I can connect to this, staring out into the great unknown of darkness and waiting for what lies ahead. A lot of things in my life are so uncertain right now and this... this speaks so many volumes and its just comforting to be able to look at something that evokes the feeling of someone else understanding.

Your art never fails to touch the heart~

Thank you very much, my dear. I am so glad you feel the emotion from this because I was quite emotional when I painted it. I guess it is sort of a "cure" painting in a lot of ways for me.

Yay new art

Anyway i really like this piece. Its haunting and whimsical as always, and downright pretty. I love the concept and the way you played with negative space. I love the greenery. And it does seem to illustrate the changes that come in life and how damn overwhelming they can be whilst still beautiful and exciting.

And its good to see you in action again, can't wait for all the other pictures you promised in your journal

Thank you so much. I am really glad you like this piece. I tend to purposely put a lot of negative space in my drawings which is usually something people can complain about so I am glad you liked it.:blackrose:

Hello my dear!!! How I have missed you! :tighthug:

This is a beautiful piece! I like the use of empty space, it gives the feeling of uncertainty and loneliness, which is what a strange brand new world can feel like at times. The vegetation is so beautiful, light and subtle, very realistic as well. I really like how you must look for the figure, but once you find it the world around it starts unfolding. You look at the moon, then the trees above it, and then the ground beneath it. The subtle highlights are brilliant. You once again created a magical world for the viewer to be drawn into.

This is amazing my dear! I hope we won't have to wait very long to see more of you and your work!

Thank you so very much. I am so glad people seem to like the empty space I put in here. I am also really glad you like the vegetation as I was still a little newer at doing so much of it when I did this piece (I drew it the night before my birthday)

I should be posting more over this week so I hope I do not drive anyone crazy!:blackrose:

"... may be dealing with the difficulty of changes and or the depression of aging..."

That is exactly what I'm going through. :(

PITY ME, I DEMAND IT.

What a beautiful piece of art. Was it taken with a digital camera, as I see a bit of what looks to be a flash on the black canvas? Or is that just light from a window or something? :o

Either way, traditional media is great - I wish more artists did it. Love it. :)

Oh, dear...I understand that and I wish I could help you. It can be very difficult.

It was taken with a digital camera but definitely no flash. That piece of posterboard has a thin area where this odd texture shines through but I agree it does look like flash. Thank you so much!:blackrose:
