+ More than Alice + by ShePaintsWithBlood + More than Alice + by ShePaintsWithBlood
A personal piece with maybe more soul than some of my work seems to feel these days. Okay, I need to get back to commissions now!

Title is obviously because, even though this was not the intention, I am sure the wolf will remind many of the Cheshire Cat. I am pretty sure the little deer girl can handle herself though. Oh my gosh return of the windmills!

Time: ?
Tools: 0.5 mm mech pencil, uncoated comic board, coloured pencils, watercolour pencils, chalk pastel, razor blade.
Reference: None.

This drawing is copyright ShePaintsWithBlood, Aria Keehn (me):blackrose:

OHMYGOSH. I AM SO STOOPID. I would never have known that was a deer girl if I hadn't read the description beforehand. Sorry! I sometimes don't pay too much to details and this seems to be one of those times...
Anyways, windmills look great! Though they seem to have the capability to depress anyone who stares at them for a long time... It has some sort of sucking power, I think. xD
Beautiful, beautiful, as usual. :)
Background = LOVE! :3

Anyways, I've read in a comment below that this would make a good cover art for a children's story?
I'd LOVE to read any story, any story at all, if it's being illustrated by you!
Keep up the good work! I IDOLIZE YOU! :3

Thank you so much! And no worries, she was only very subtly deer-like I would not expect people to really notice at all actually.

That is a unique thing you notice about windmills, for me, they are a kind of melancholy magic turning out a warning about the wastelands they spin in. I do not know...I just love them I guess, hehe.

Aww thank you!! I write as well so I am sure eventually there shall be illustrated books by me <3 Thank you so much your comment made my night!:blackrose:

Thank you so much!! I really appreciate this. A lot of this piece is actually done in chalk pastel but as I mentioned in another comment I like to use pastel similarly to how I use watercolour so it comes out looking the same I guess ^n.n^ :blackrose:

Awesome!
I love anything that reminds me of alice in wonderland. xD

And yes the wolf does have a cheshire grin! I love how the deer girl looks innocent, just to annoy him.

Aww, thank you! Among other things one of the things I definitely want to write someday would be a strange childrens or child'esque story.:blackrose:

I did recently interviewed an author for the paper I freelance for and he wrote a story whcih combined a children's story he used to tell his kids with an adult-themed story dealing with issues like child abuse and religious fanaticism. Maybe that could be a road you could go do down in your writing ... just a thought.

Oh, the guy's book is calle GoneAway into the Land by Jeffrey B. Allen. Have not read it yet myself but I want to. The guy was really interesting to talk to.

Oh really? Oooh +writes down the title+ I will have to keep this in mind for sure...it sounds very interesting. Generally I write about children as it is, although I do have a protagonist who is around 17 but he is my oldest I believe. I really prefer young teens and children. :blackrose:

The world's you build never cease to amaze me. It really brings me back, being able to look over your art in this way again. I've really missed it.

This piece is no exception! It's really interesting how the wolf sort of comes from the girl. A sort of spirit or so.

My gosh...this is such a stylistically interesting and atmospheric piece! I love how the wolf creature exudes a sense of fairytale danger but the deer girl is unperturbed. The only thing that seems a little weird is that the girl's legs seem kind of thin and disconnected from the rest of her body, but overall this is a really cool work.

Thank you so much!

And thank you for the critique. I drew her nude first and purposely gave her skinny legs (I remember at her age, my legs were really thin) and I kind of gave her a round belly to suggest baby fat. But I agree, the exaggerated features seem a little awkward.:blackrose:
