Finished commission for ~songbreezewolf of her character Absentia.
She requested her character drawn with a junk tree at twilight which was just about all I could hope to be asked for in a commission ^n.n^ I really had a lot of fun painting that sky. I think the junk tree kind of looks like it is made out of yarn though (maybe it is?)
This painting features a number of gears many of which can be turned in sync with each other as well as a clock with hands that can be positioned.
My idea for this piece is that the character Absentia is howling a green light up to the moon which in turn has sent a crackling power down to split the junk tree down the center. Why is she doing this? I believe she is savvy to the fact that Junk trees are otherworldly portals and perhaps the clockwork undergrowth of many worlds and thus has tried to alter time to her benefit.
Ugh and yes...I still need to work on contrast.
Time: 20+ hours (likely 30) Tools: Watercolour papers stitched together. Graphite sketch painted in watercolour and pastel with a bit of Prisma inking pen. Clock gears, clock face and keyhole. Reference: Pictures of Absentia and howling wolves.
This painting is bloodmarked and copyright to Aria "51" Keehn 2012 ShePaintsWithBlood (me) Thank you for looking, much love!

Haha, sorry to continue, but I moght also add that the gears were an interesting touch. It gives it a unique angle and a strange sense of depth in feeling. So anyway, overall, amazing picture!!!
This is very well done! The tree is extremely well done in the way it twists so beautifully, and the very top part of the sky is perfectly in tune with the rest of the picture. The whole thing seems like it's a cold, winter howl with twists of unnatural beauty. Very well done! 11 out of 10 stars!!!
